Fran Merida to Move to Atletico Madrid

Arsenal midfielder Fran Merida is now all set to move away from the North London club to Atletico Madrid in the summer. In his attempt to get more first team football, the Spaniard has decided to move to Madrid.

Arsene Wenger is reportedly an admirer of Merida, but the talented midfielder now wants to play more, instead of sitting on the bench. Last season, he was not featured in the starting line up of any premier league match. He just got into the first eleven of a Champions league fixture against Olympiakos and three other matches in FA Cup and League Cup.

Arsenal has recently offered a contract extension to Merida which he rejected as he looks to join Atletico Madrid in his bid to get more action on the field. However, it is suggested that he would get more first team football at Arsenal next season, if Cesc Fabregas leaves Emirates for Barcelona.
